Why aficionado? Because falling in love with life was effortless, being born in Los Angeles & later residing in the suburbs in the beautiful state of California definitely simplified the task. Throughout my childhood I was inspired by life’s blessings, surrounded by mountains, majestic oceans, endless sunny days, tall trees, communities full of culture & the best horizons you can ask for. An appreciation for nature & humanity built the foundation & taught me to be mindful & thankful for the little things. I was also fortunate to live in a stable home where family, health & homemade, warm cooked meals were a priority. As a child I remember my parents coming home from a long day at work & then teaming up to make healthful dinners, as an adult I look back & am mesmerized, proud & most importantly grateful. Those were my roots & beginnings. However, everything happens for a reason & after many wonderful years of living in a beautiful place that shaped me into the essence that I am, my life took a turn & the family moved to Texas
I embarked on a new journey, started college & found my true passion. How I found it was very interesting. Everyone who really knows me, knows I once wanted to pursue veterinary medicine to be a veterinarian.. but one day, my love for critters led me to become a vegetarian instead! My life dramatically changed after that. I fell in love with nutritional sciences & started reading food labels for fun! I discovered how food can be one of life’s blessings if balanced in our bodies & I wanted to take action, learn more, absorb everything life taught me & help others learn about food & the power it has to fuel. I wanted to help others learn that with initiative, preventative lifestyles & food behaviors life can be healthful & beautiful.
Nutrition, health & education are all priceless gifts that can never be given enough. My journey has taught me a lot about life & although I thought I fell in love with nutrition as a young adult I realized through my academic training that I had been loving it all my life. Today, as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist I hope to teach others that vida means life, inspire others to see how food is vida & falling in love with life should be effortless too.
Vida Means Life.
Dietitian Jennifer Rodriguez believes that the key to a healthy life consists of multiple factors a main one being what we use as our daily fuel. This is why Food is Vida was created, to help encourage preventative-based health practices by inspiring others to view food as life or ‘vida’, while balancing other healthful actions in our daily lives such as a healthy mind, body and spirit.
